Recently we have been working with Safe Haven, a local Yeadon based charity.

Safe Haven provide support to the local community working alongside various support networks, such as Domestic Violence Teams, Children’s Centres, Mental Health Authorities and Social Services across Leeds, for families in desperate need.

Initially, we collected food donations for the Safe Haven food bank, following this Suzanne Mitchell responded to a Facebook appeal for baby equipment to help a young expectant mother. Within 2 days Suzanne managed to collect from the Bradford & Leeds community 5 prams, 10 + bin liners of baby clothing, baby monitors from a Nurse who works at the BRI, baby bouncers, moses baskets and various other items. You name it Suzanne picked it up, cleaned it and took it to Safe Haven. The new mum is now equipped with everything she needs for when baby arrives. All additional items will also be used by Safe Haven to help other people who are in need within the local community.

All staff then got on board and between them made donations to a Safe Haven shopping fund. Collecting £180 and armed with the following shopping list Rob Ryde went shopping!

  • Tinned Meals/Pies
  • Tinned Meat
  • Coffee
  • Hot Chocolate
  • Dilute Cordial
  • Carton Milk
  • Curry Sauce Jars
  • Rice
  • Cooking Oil
  • Sugar
  • Jam
  • Peanut Butter
  • Chocolate Spread
  • Dried Rice/Pasta Meals
  • Hygiene Products
  • Nappies

Rob managed to pick up 6 of each item on the shopping list and this was delivered to Safe Haven on Thursday 30th May.

We are proud to work with Safe Haven in these difficult times and all our staff agree that this support should continue in the future.
